Announcing 2021 Classes with lots of newness!!!

The Art of Simpling - 3 Hours of Herbal Fun

June 19, 2021 and October 23, 2021.  Both great times to make self care or personally inspired gifts for you or a friend.

This class is held here at Medicine Woods, a woodland botanical sanctuary complete with an herbal apothecary and kitchen.  Very near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this land is a virtual goldmine of medicinal plants.  We will explore how to work with herbs in every form imaginable.  Teas, tinctures, infusions, oil, salves, creams, bath salts and herbal essential oil use, will all be covered.  You will leave this class jars of all the items we create together. During this 3 hour class, we dive deep into the basic of blending herbs for teas, potpourri, medicinal oils, salves, creams and more.  Bring a sack lunch and hang around exploring the medicine woods, Frog Pond and check out our extensive library.

Make it a weekend in the Smoky Mountains.  There are many cabins, RV parks and we have a HipCamp here.  Camp in this Botanical wonderland!!  Ask about availability when signing up.  Book a class here.

Two New classes for kids and their families-

What's Growing in My Backyard?

Ever wonder what kind of plants in the backyard might  be "useful weeds."  Kids are fascinated to learn that they can make tea, or an oil, or dried plants with the stuff in the yard.  Parents learn a thing or two too!  Designed to combine plant walk, art exercise, group discussion and tea!!  It's loads of fun.  Announcing 2021 dates in January.  This experience can be planned for your yard or the yard here at Medicine Woods.  The next step is oils and salves.  See below.

How to Make Herbal Oils

Making an herbal oil is simple.  We discuss flowers, leaf, roots and bark as plants that can be made into a potent herbal oil for salves, boo boo's and other things. This class was born as I was making up a birthday "kit" for a special little friend of mine.   You will be surprised what is growing right in your back yard!!!  Can be held at your house or here @ Medicine Woods.

As of August 1, this class will be presented once in Knoxville at the Iams Center in Knoxville on Sunday, September 1 at 1:00.  Let us know you would like to be there by sending an email to [email protected]

Will be offered on Monday September 14 in Nashville at the Higher Ground Herb Farm.

On Sunday September 12 at 10 AM, Cynthia will offer a talk on Menopause and Herbs at the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens.  Please see this link for more details.

Consultation with “The Menopause Herbalist"

As the creator, formulator, and herbalist @ MoonMaid Botanicals, I have talked to hundreds of women about menopause and its challenges.  So often the questions are so similar I feel like a more “in-depth” chat might be helpful I am here for you.  Order on the site HERE.

I have been working almost exclusively with menopause for 20 years and know that I have information that can help you ease through this amazing life transition.  This consultation includes your first month’s remedies.

A Day @ MoonMaid's Botanical  Sanctuary

I am dedicated to preserving, protecting and propagating the native medicinals that are abundant here in the East Tennessee Smoky Mountains.  As a member of the United Plant Savers network of international botanical sanctuaries, I find it critical to educate any and all who visit the importance of native medicinal woodland herbs.  So, seasonally I invite folks to come to hang out on land for a day or a weekend and help with the ongoing projects that are ever in need of doing. Come enjoy this incredible "gem of the Smoky Mountains.  We'll get sweaty and grimy, enjoy good food, the stars in the sky and a nice fire.  Email [email protected] for details.

Herb Walks

ANYTIME - Cynthia is also available to conduct herb walks @ MoonMaid’s Botanical Sanctuary in Cosby, TN.  Growing here is an abundant array of native medicinal plants in my woods and cultivated herbs in the formal beds.  Guided herb walks can be arranged for your location as well.

This event can be tailored to your particular needs be it a gathering of women or a child’s birthday party.   I have a specific program for children that incorporates a walk, picking herbs, drawing them and making tea from what we harvest.  A great activity for a party. Contact Cynthia for details.  Fee - $50 per hour for two.
